'Miss Muffet' move trashes Jeep

An arachnid that got the drop on a young woman driving a Jeep caused multiple barrel rolls, a collision with a mobile horsebox and severe damage to a tree. And the Jeep.

But nobody was killed and the spider escaped in this 'Little Miss Muffet' tale that went down in the US state of Maine.

Police and ambulance staff who responded to the crash later reported that a spider had dropped on a string of web from the Jeep's roof-lining in front of Susan Sefcik's face as she was driving with her husband George.

She did what any reasonable person might do - tried to swat the spider as it sat down beside her.

MINOR INJURIES

She lost control of the Jeep, collided with the mobile horsebox, and the 4x4 barrel-rolled several times before its progress was halted by a tree.

Authorities who responded to the scene and to the wreckage in the roadside wood said Miss Muffet and George sustained minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The story, like this one, was all over the web within minutes but the spider has still not been found.
