Mazda has announced that the world premiere of its all-new CX-5 crossover SUV will be at September’s 2011 Frankfurt auto show.
It's the first of a new wave of Mazdas and based on the Minagi concept shown at the Geneva auto show early in 2011 and showcases the automaker's new 'Kodo' design language with its bolder front-end styling.

It is also the platform for Mazda’s Skyactiv range of technologies that uses new petrol and turbodiesel engines, manual and auto transmissions and body and chassis to match, the company says, the crossover’s "high-quality ride" with its "outstanding environmental credentials". However, Mazda's South African representatives previously told Wheels24 that Skyactiv would only be available here from 2013.
The CX-5, along with a facelift to the popular Mazda 3 range, will be unveiled to the world media on September 13, 2011.
