Three of Italy’s most stunning cars, Alfa’s 8C Competizione and Maserati’s GrandTurismo and Quattroporte, are being recalled stateside.

Incorrectly torqued front and rear suspension upper and lower ball joint nuts are the issue at hand necessitating the recall, according to the Nation Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The problem could cause failure of the ball joint stud, resulting in damage or separation of the suspension arm – which you hardly have to be an engineer to appreciate the consequences of…

The recall is expected to commence in February and dealers will inspect the torque of the upper and lower ball joint nuts. If necessary the suspension arms and hub carrier will be replaced.

With less than 100 8Cs having been delivered to customers in the US (part of Alfa’s reintroduction to the American market) the job at hand for the Biscione badged team pales in significance to their Trident cousins, who sold 7 912 2008 model cars in the US.
