South Africa’s most popular 4x4 gathering will be marked by a special Land Cruiser presence in 2011.
During the last weekend of April the 32nd edition of the Rust de Winter jamboree will be dedicated to the off-road legend that Toyota’s Land Cruiser has become over the last 60 years.
Toyota has invited owners of these signature hardcore 4x4 off-roaders to enter and win cash prizes in various categories.
The competition will take place on Saturday April 30 alongiside the Elands River and be spread across three categories: oldest running Land Cruiser, oldest original Land Cruiser and best-kitted Land Cruiser.
CHALLENGING GYMKHANA
To enter, owners can complete the competition entry form available online at www.toyota.co.za or pick up an entry form at Rust de Winter. Entrants must register by 10am on Saturday, April 30 and judging will take place from 10am to 11am. The winners will be announced at noon and each category winner will receive R3 500 in cash. Rules for the competition are available on the Toyota website.
Beyond the Land Cruiser awards, Rust de Winter will feature all manner of 4x4 entertainment, including some of the some challenging low-range gymkhana driving you could ever hope to see.
If you've never been, well, Rust de Winter is about 25km east of Pienaarsrivier (70km north of Pretoria) on the N1 to Polokwane and well worth a visit if you're a serious 4x4 enthusiast.
