Kia’s Venga moves home

If Kia’s Venga mini-MPV makes it to South Africa, units will be sourced from its Zilina plant in Slovakia, rather than the Czech Republic.

Kia’s Jazz competitor is about four metres long with a rear bench that splits 60/40 and tumbles into the floor when not in use.

Engines include a mix of 1.4- and 1.6-litre petrol and turbodiesel engines.

The Zilina plant is being expanded to include a third shift and will employ an additional 1000 employees, taking the total number to 4000.

The Venga was launched at the 2009 Frankfurt auto show. Venga will now be built alongside the Cee’d and Sportage models.

Kia South Africa told Wheels24: "We don’t have any plans to launch this model (Venga) in SA. It is for the European market only, at this stage, but this might change."

Fingers crossed, then...
