A supercar flew off the road and burned north of Durban and two pedestrians were killed after an intersection collision in Johannesburg on a crash-marred weekend.
A man in his thirties died after the Lamborghini he was driving left the road in Durban North on Sunday morning and burst into flames.
Witnesses saw the sports car go out of control on the M4 North around 3.30am. The car left the road, ploughed through trees and undergrowth for about 400m and finally came to rest on its roof near the Broadway conference centre.
When paramedics and the fire department arrived at the scene they found the vehicle engulfed in flame. After the fire was extinguished they found that the driver, a man in his 30's, had apparently die
Earlier on Saturday evening a man was arrested after his vehicle killed with two pedestrians in a collision in Bertrams, Johannesburg Metro police said.
"A Pajero collided with another vehicle in an intersection then careered on to the pavement, hitting two male pedestrians," said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.
The two pedestrians, in their thirties, died at the scene.
The male driver of the Pajero and his male passenger each initially denied being the driver, Minnaar said. However, at Jeppe police station, one admitted to being the driver. He will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on two counts of culpable homicide.
