Hyundai SA has issued a warning to all consumers to be aware of a scam which asks people for their personal details to stand a chance of winning a new Hyundai Getz Sport.
This scam is being circulated via SMS and reads:
"CONGRATULATION!! YOU HAVE WON THE NEW 2012 HYUNDAI GETZ, SPORT FROM HYUNDAI PROMO. CONTACT: ANDREW TEL:0789501066, EMAIL:hyundaiafrica@safrica.com. FAX:0862484764”
The "advertisement" is false and the Korean automaker advises anybody contacted via SMS not to respond and to report the matter to Hyundai. All competitions and promotions being undertaken by Hyundai, the company says, will always be displayed on the automaker's Facebook page.
Albrecht Grundel, operations director at Hyundai SA, said: “We urge people to verify any competition details through this channel or to contact the Hyundai SA customer care email to verify the details of any competition.
"Never divulge any personal information unless you are sure this is an official brand promotion.”
