Hyundai, Budget warn of prize scam

DON'T BE DUPED: Hyundai SA has warned of a scam which lures victims by telling them they've won a new Getz.

Hyundai SA has warned against a scam involving it and Budget Insurance to lure victims who are led to believe they’ve won a new car.

The offending material being circulated purports to be from Hyundai and states that the person has won a 1.4 Hyundai Getz.

It then urges the “winner” to contact Budget Insurance to receive a 6.5 percent discount on their monthly insurance premium for the first two years.

'NO COMPETITION'

Albrecht Grundel, operations director at Hyundai SA, said: “Hyundai is not currently running any competition with Budget Insurance.”

He asked that any person informed that they were “randomly selected” from the Hyundai database to win a car report the incident to the company’s call centre on 086 142 7222.

The police have been informed of the matter.
