There’s something about car movies that's highly appealing to us car fans; there are crazy car chases, close shaves and, of course, the absurdly powerful cars.
It’s no wonder we love 'em.
To promote a 'Saturday Night at the Drive-In' promotion across the UK Honda conducted a survey to find out which movie deserved to be crowned "The Greatest Car Flick of all Time".
'The Italian Job' (Michael Caine’s 1960's crime caper, not the Charlise Theron remake) took pole position with a one-third of all respondents choosing . The musical high jinks of John Travolta in 'Grease' took second place and Dan Aykroyd’s 'The Blues Brothers' was third.
The survey was held in Honda dealers across the UK and served to promote the automaker's involvement in the British Touring Car championship.
Apart from choosing the Top 10 car movies, the survey also revealed some of the key ingredients that make up a great car movie for respondents.
Plot, stunts and high-speed chases topped the male respondents' list of key components for a great car movie. A quarter of female participants, however, rated a hunky male lead behind the wheel as being more important than a high-revving engine.
Here's the full Top 10 - do you have any better suggestions?
1 The Italian Job
2 Grease
3 Blues Brothers
4 The Fast and the Furious
5 Thelma and Louise
6 Smokey and the Bandit
7 The Love Bug
