After unveiling the most ambitious model expansion strategy in history at the 2010 Paris auto show, Lotus now has to start delivering.
The company knows that its plan to move upmarket will crucially hinge on an ability to produce cabins of the required aesthetic taste and tactile quality to woo buyers away from the likes of Aston Martin and Porsche.
Therefore industry analysts are not surprised that Lotus has announced it will partner with German design consultancy CSI (and no, it is not related the television show).
CSI’s portfolio is hugely impressive. The company has been responsible for the Audi R8, SLS AMG and Porsche Panamera’s cabin design – all three class-leading ergonomic environments and interior style icons in the contemporary performance car marketplace.
The earliest example of CSI’s contribution to Lotus will be in 2012, when the updated Evora will benefit from a completely CSI designed interior.
