A Canadian is in a US jail after his satnav lady directed him to a remote border post where agents found a half-kilogram of marijuana in his car.
Officials said 54-year-old Darrell Fudge was driving from British Columbia to his home in Newfoundland and he didn't intend to enter the United States but his GPS gave him the shortest route, which went into northern Maine.
Federal authorities found the marijuana in a cooler box and turned it over to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Fudge appeared in court where his lawyer said he wished to settle the case.
The Sun Journal newspaper said Fudge was free on $5000 (about R35 00) bail. He will appear in court again soon.
