Suzuki has shown the first images of its new Swift as the first model rolled off the line in Hungary on Thursday.
The all-new Swift is Suzuki’s newest world car, and while the styling at first appears to be little changed from before, the new model makes advances in the areas of impact safety (for occupants and pedestrians), performance and handling.
The third-generation Swift has grown slightly with a wheelbase now 50 mm longer than before, while the overall length grows by 90mm.
Generous use of lightweight steel ensures the body is lighter than before, while the body is more rigid, too. Wider tracks front and rear and larger tyres should make this an even better handler than before.
No interior images were provided, but Suzuki assures the cabin has a “more dynamic feel” using black with silver accents. Seven airbags are standard.
For Europe, new 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre turbodiesel engines are offered and come with promises of better fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions.
More detail and images will be made available as the car is rolled out to respective markets.
