The new styling is nice, very car like. I find the ix35 smaller inside compared to the Tuscon. Tuscon is the best, is yes it had to change. I am sure the ix35 will make a big mark in our market, as Hyuandai is the best. I had 3 Hyundai's. I cannot wait to see and feel the new Kia Sportage. It looks little more the part of an SUV than the ix35. |
its a beauty on its own well done I have always loved the tucsons. |
booked ours as demo model as it is the official car for the 2010 soccer get it cheaper about 20 - 30 k with only about some 100 - 1000km on. looking forward try pretoria they have. First time buyer of Hyundai hope it dont let me down |
Great stuff! Great price! I've ordered mine and cannot wait. Looking forward to driving in style. Well done Hyundai. |
WOW, Hyundai definitely has arrived. I tested the 2,0 GL yesterday, it was amazing; power, looks and a lot of standard stuff compared to other SUV in the segment, and then of course the price!!! Fantastic value, hope other manufacturers learn from them ITO Price and standard accessories!!! Great SUV. |
I have order my ix35 GLS 2.0 3 weeks ago and still dont have the dealers dont have stock, what a let down. |
@Zookman, the SX4 is a great little SUV but I say "little" because it is exactly that. It is smaller than the cars in the ix35's class and therefore competes in a lower category which is probably the reason why it has not been mentioned here... |
Clearly, no-one here has experienced the Suzuki SX4. None of the cars mentioned here come any where near the spec level & pricing of the Suzuki. Then again, it's nice to own a car that not every jan rap en sy maat has... |
@James > As far as I know, the "Keyless Entry" on the ix35 top spec model is more like the Mercedes Benze system whereby you only need to be nearby the vehicle and it unlocks itself by means of a proximity sensor which picks up a signal from the smartkey. All other models have "conventional" remote central lock/unlocking which is keyless anyway as you press a button on the remote... Hyundai never mentions this as a "feature" because most of their models have had it standard since 1996... |
I'm getting mine tomorrow. If you in KZN - use Springfield Park - excellent service compared to PMB |
I don't know much about cars but am looking at the new Sportage and the iX35. The Sportage just seem to have more features than the iX35? For cheaper? why is that? And what should I take into consideration when comparing these two vehicles with each other? |
Hi,
Me I am a big hyuandai fan .. had 2 tuson...one took me trhu a headon colllisioon, my wife had a getz and now an i20..been waiting for the ix35 for long now....Great looks and ALL ..BUT i cannot belive huyndai are so cheap to give us the radio with no RDS...it takes the beaty right out of the centre console!!! same on you guys...even in dth ei20 the same..BUT the ACCENT radio id RDS??? |
Agree, removal of ISOfix a huge letdown for what will be a great family car. Why do they keep doing this to SA models. Do they not care its a world standard and available on any decent baby travel system in South Africa
|
What a beauty.had a test drive 2.0 GLS and what power it has.well looks like i'm going to sell my 2008 Sportage. |
I took a look at the car this weekend, well priced and good specs. However, no ISO clips for a baby seat from what I can tell (dealer confirmed). That seems like a big oversight to me. No keyless entry except on the top of the range. There are entry level cars with features like that. Big plus - maintenance is now 5 years 100'000km. Very comfortable, fixes everything I didn't like about the old Tucson. Only thing that should change is an option to have the spare on the outside to get more boot space. The boot is average size for such a big car, especially if you compare it to the Terios, it has loads more boot space. |
Saw the car and the prices this morning - the ix35 starts at R239 900 for the GL, while the GLS is R264 900. Excellent value! |
Went to the ix35 launch lastnight, 24 cars sold on the floor, this SUV is going to be a winner, i bought one too. |
I think the Tucson was a chick car- but this really looks like the guys would enjoy it! |
All U Tucson Fans,The iX is an awesome succesor;please feel free to contact me when U R upgrading. Contact me on 0828585798 or on o31-9166266 |
You're all nuts and contributing to us being ripped in SA for vehicles. UK pricing starts at just under 17k pounds and tops out at approximately 21k pounds for the top of the line model. R180k-220k at current exchange rates. SA models starting at R265k! Do you now see how we get poked!? |
I have been a Hyundai owner since 1996 starting an Elantra and have never changed brands. I currently own a Tucson and have never encounted any problems. iX35 beats the sportage,CRV and qashqai by far and I'm sure going to own one as soon as it arrives! |
Marc - can you tell me where and how you ordered yours please? I've asked numerous dealers and they just dont seem interested in the business??!! Thanks. |
I think the forthcoming Kia Sportage has a more attractive design than both the Hyundai ix35 and the Qashqai. I wonder how the Sportage will differ from the ix35 in quality and price. |
Hmmm… I like the look of this one. This appeals to me in the same way that the Qashqai does. In fact, on looks alone, I prefer them to the Tiguan and Q5 (probably won’t have too many people here sharing that view). Forgive my lack or car design-speak, but the iX35 and Qashqai seem to hang together better as design units than their German counterparts. The sloping shoulder lines to the rear and flattened, squat window areas make them look powerful and aggressive. And they still retain enough chunky elements (e.g. the Qashqai’s “fat” nose) to hint at rugged credentials. Can someone tell me what Hyundai SA is like from a service and parts perspective? |
I love this car. It's sprty classy and has alot of grunt. I'm impressed! |
I love my Tuscon 4x4 and no whave 150 000 on the clock. I waaaaannnnttt the ix35 oil burner, can't wait ofr its release. |
Definitly trade in Tucxon for ix35.
|
Awesome car Hyundai - congratulations!!! |
Only car manufacturer in the country to offer 5 years, unlimited milage warranty... |
@ppip> The EAST were the commies, so you support communism? Jokes, there is not EAST/WEST is Germany anymore... just Germany, VW is German plain an simple. FYI, the ix35 was designed in Frankfurt by Germans at Hyundais German design studio... |
@Mariska Lesch. I am sorry you did not understand like all the rest on the blog - In the leauge of BMW Audi and Mercedes Benz |
VW is EAST German :) Seriously, the new Amarok etc is seriously starting to pull me from my next being a Merc... |
I was considering going for the Honda CR-V, I think I've changed my mind. Damn, this is a beauty ! |
Confused, I think you are confused. The Qashqi is a seriously ugly car, I don't see any resemblance.
@GTO - I agree, Hyundai is one of the most reliable brands out there. Since owning one I've gone from a hater to - would never buy anything else. |
GTO, how stupid are you? VW IS german... |
I 'ordered' mine yesterday. 1st on the waiting list. 2.0 Auto should be around R330K .... still a steal. |
Honda, Toyota, VW all think they are in the leauge of the germans. The Koreans will be the Toyotas and VW of yesteryear - Reliable, affordabale and some std kit |
ix35 looks a little like the Subaru Tribeca - not sure if you get Tribeca in SA? |
uhmmm.. Oman is not an Emirate. The Sultanate of Oman is an independent country ruled since 1970 by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos. The Burj Khalifa is at 820m the world's tallest free standing man made structure - but that's in another country, ie the United Arab Emirates, and specifically, in it's second city: Dubai. |
Looks like Hyundai has arrived. |
This thing is definately going sell like hot cakes especially if it is priced correctly which we all know it will be. I must add that it probably beats it rivals in the looks department as well. That 2.0d engine kicking out 135 KW will definately be a steal if it could be sold @ around R300k |
This article does not tell us everything. A lot depends on the pricing |
I love this I am considering to buy a car i have been driving Getz and paid it off. Having looked at Rav4 i think i am now changing to the name i am used too. Well done |
I would like to agree with PDR. CRV and Accord used to be very affordable. Not so much anymore. The new Hyundai and Kia Sportage are amazing looking vehicles. |
@Confused... Seriously... you make me wonder if have you actually seen the back of a Q5 or the front of a Qashqi. I could make a list of the differences but it would be a waste of time. Give respect where it is due, this looks better than the Qashqi and dare I say it, maybe even better than the Q5, although they dont really compete for marketplace at all. Tiguan looks a little old fashioned round about now... |
Please FORD, bring the Kouga to RSA! |
PDR...and here I thought I was the only one who noticed that, I couldn't have said it better myself. |
Hyundai seems to be going for that spot Honda always used to have: Affordable, reliable and full of kit. Honda has gotten too pricey and Hyundai and Kia seems to be keen to fill the spot. Audi/Merc/BMW need not worry yet, because they sell on name more than value, but Honda, Toyota and the likes of Nissan and Ford should be taking note. |
I'm not sure someone looking at the Tucson would have considered the Captiva. It's a tad expensive. If the 2.0 ix35 comes in at around R265'000, it won't have much competition for the price and package. I'm trading my Tucson in as soon as teh ix35 arrives, lovely. |
Looks like a Nissan Qashqi from the side and front and a Q7 from the back. Well done Hyundai. |
The Captiva is going to have competition... - Cheers |
