Pricing for the new Fiat Abarth 500C manual convertible has been announced and it’s cheaper than the current version with ‘Competizione’ paddle-shift transmission.
Selling in the UK for the equivalent of R182 382, it’s R10 820 cheaper than the automatic version. Along with a stylish electric hood with glass rear window and a third brake light incorporated into the spoiler, it receives a host of other equipment which include seven airbags, xenon headlights, torque transfer control, parking sensors, Blue&Me hands-free telecoms, leather steering wheel and alloy rims.
A full range of options include automatic climate control, leather sports interior, bi-colour paint, red brake callipers and coloured side stripes and mirrors.
QUICK AND FRUGAL
The 101kW, 1.4 16v Turbo T-Jet engine provides the car with a top speed of 204kmh and reaches 0-100kmh in 7.9 seconds. The frugal unit returns 6.52 litres/100km in the combined cycle and has a CO2 figure of 155g/km.
The car features Dualdrive electrically assisted power steering with ‘Sport Mode’ while stopping is courtesy of front (ventilated) and rear disc brakes.
“With the choice between hatchback and convertible versions and in manual or Competizione form, we now have an Abarth 500 to suit all requirements and driving conditions,” said Ivan Gibson, head of Abarth in the UK," Fiat said.
Fiat Auto SA told Wheels24 it is currently investigating bringing Abarth models to South Africa.
