Ferrari opens store at the Ring

Ferrari has opened its first store (as opposed to dealership) in Germany at the fabled Nürburgring.

During the grand opening last weekend, which coincided with the Germany Grand Prix, Felipe Massa and Kimi Räikkönen attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, after which the latter recorded a superb DNF in the actual F1 race later in the day…

Ross Brawn was not in attendance, despite his long association with Ferrari, as he was too busy winning this year's constructors championship with his own F1 team.

Clothes, shoes, fragrances and no F1 victories this year. Welcome to Ferrari 2009. Enzo must be turning in his grave, shades and all.

Ferrari, which appears to have become a brand accessories manufacturer instead of a F1 racing team in the last few months, plans to open more than 40 stores over the new three years in locations around Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.

Fashion accessories, fragrances and all manner of other metrosexual goodies adorned with the prancing horse will be on sale in these Ferrari stores.

The Nürburgring Ferrari Store has a lounge for business meetings, as well as a "relaxation area" overlooking the track.

We probably shouldn’t mention it, but Aston Martin has had a more impressive VIP facility open at the ‘Ring since May, without a faux pass fragrance display…
