EuroCoty 2012 nominees revealed

Thirty-five cars have been selected for the knock-out stages of the 2012 European Car of the Year contest with the winner to be announced at the 2012 Geneva auto show.

As in previous Eurocotys, contenders must be new vehicles available before the end of 2011 in five or more European countries and each worth 5000 annual sales.

LEAF WON IN 2011

As many as 59 journalists from 23 countries are expected to participate in two voting stages. A shortlist of seven nominees will be announced on January 9, 2012. The second round of voting will produce the winner, which will be made known on March 5, 2012, ahead of the Geneva show.

The winner of last year’s contest was the Nissan Leaf EV.
