The six-seater Honda FR-V is being discontinued and will not be replaced with a new model.
After five years in production, Honda is shutting down its FR-V line. No replacement has been developed.
Instead, Honda of South Africa thinks its popular Jazz mini-MPV would do a good job of picking up the FR-V's responsibilities.
"We do view the Jazz as a family car, so yes, it should be a fitting replacement for the FR-V," a Honda SA representative said.
It's likely that the FR-V has become a victim of a rapidly contracting niche market that has seen global demand for MPVs drop off in favour of smaller, more mainstream, options.
The stylish MPV caused a stir when it was released in 2004 with a 3+3 seating arrangement identical to that seen on the Fiat Multipla.
