The names of people found guilty of drinking and driving will be published in newspapers, the kwaZulu-Natal transport department has vowed.
"It's officially begun," transport MEC Willies Mchunu said. "It is our priority to continue to force road users to worry about breaking traffic laws. For instance, people worry more about getting caught speeding or drinking and driving than the fatal consequences of committing these crimes."
Mchunu said the campaign would show people that driving licences were being suspended, people were being jailed, and large fines imposed.
Mchunu's statement was accompanied by a list of names of people guilty of drinking and driving.
