Pebble Beach, California played host to the launch of luxury rides and rare vehicles set to be auctioned off. A classic Ferrari went under the hammer for a staggering R91.4-million.

The 1960 Ferrari California 250 LWB Spider Competizione, one of many rare vehicles on display went to an anonymous collector.

The classic Ferrari is an extremely rare model and has been built nine times for competition. The vehicle comes from the Sherman M. Wolf collection, who purchased it from its first owner in 1979.

Other Ferraris which went under the hammer include a 1985 288 GTO (R8.3-million) and a 340 MM Spider (R37-million).
