Clarkson's virtual car guide

LONDON, England - 'Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson, well-known for his hilarious (albeit sometimes risqué) comments on the motoring show will add his voice to an upcoming release of Forza Motorsport 4.

The game features many racing modes and plenty of vehicles to keep petrolheads glued to their screens. That is, of course, if you own an Xbox.

Clarkson will provide voice overs in the game’s new Autovista mode, sharing his opinions of the featured cars.

The Autovista mode will act as a virtual showroom where players are allowed to examine vehicles in detail. Clarkson will also act as an guide when players request the vehicles' “points of interest”.

'GOTTA FEEL LIKE CLARKSON'

The Ferrari 458 Italia, Ferrari California and McLaren F1 are just a few of the cars to be featured in this mode.

Clarkson's signature brand of humour comes through in his take on the 2005 Ford GT, though.

"Everyone knows that American cars are terrible," Clarkson states, "and cars from Europe - especially cars from Italy - are better. Henry Ford knew this, that's why he tried to buy Ferrari. Until Enzo Ferrari looked down his Roman nose and said, 'Er, you know what? Actually, you can't have it!'"

Game developer Brian Ekberg said Clarkson was given free rein regards to the script to give gamers and fans an "authentic experience".

“If we’re going to have Jeremy Clarkson in this mode talking about cars, it’s gotta feel like Jeremy Clarkson. It has got to be his script, his voiceover, his opinion,” said Ekberg. “We gave him a list of cars, he wrote the scripts. That’s why it feels really authentic."

Clarkson is no stranger to voice overs. The veteran motoring journalist has numerous documentaries and movie roles under his belt, including the voice of the character Harv (UK version) in the animated film "Cars".

Forza Motorport 4 is set to be released later in 2011.
