Chinese manufacturer Brilliance wants to sell its cars in the US, even though not one complies with US safety and emissions requirements.
A Brilliance spokesman said the manufacturer will show four models: the BS6 and BS4 sedans, the BC3 sports coupe and FRV hatchback.
Various Chinese manufacturers have already announced plans to sell their cars in the US, and Brilliance said it has hired engineering consultants to upgrade its cars to meet the country's requirements.
According to Automotive News, Brilliance vice president He Guohua at the Beijing Motor Show in April said the sedans had been sent to the US in June 2007 for emission and crash tests.
He said the crash test results were good while the emission tests "showed problems", but expected all improvements to be made by December. The cars are expected to go on sale in 2009.
In China, Brilliance is in a joint venture with BMW AG to produce BMW cars for the local market.
