Keen to impress at their local auto show, diarised for the end of April, Chinese manufacturers are to showcase a new line of premium products.
Chery, one of China’s most successful manufacturers, aims to sell in excess of 400 000 cars this year, and believes it can astride the premium market too.
Mimicking Toyota’s branding exercise with Lexus, Chery will showcase a new sub-brand (euphemistically named Riich) at the Shanghai auto show.
Considering Audi’s long–wheel base A6 is China’s best selling premium car, it’s hardly surprising to find Chery having monikered Riich's debut model as the G6.
Though the Riich G6 sports an oddly Bentleyesque badge, the engineering is a little less bespoke, yet hardly utilitarian.
Powered by either a 142kW 3l V6 or a turbocharged, compression ignition 2l diesel worth 123kW, the G6 features independent, double-wishbone suspension on all four wheels balanced by adjustable dampers.
Audi A6 chasing features include bi-xenon headlamps, LED embedded taillamps and a reversing camera.
