A bakkie overloaded with cabbages spent a lonely New Year's Eve on a weighbridge in North West after after its driver was arrested.
Two bakkies, a Mazda and an Isuzu, were stopped by police on the Broederstroom-Lanseria road north-west of Johannesburg for driving bakkies overloaded with cabbages.
'TOO MANY CABBAGES'
"There were just too many cabbages... hundreds," said a police spokesman "The Mazda was 50% overloaded, the Isuzu 24%."
The Isuzu driver was released after paying a R3500 fine but had to load his greens on to a bigger vehicle before being allowed to proceed. The Mazda driver was arrested - a warrant was out for him for failing to pay a fine for a previous overloading charge.
His wilting cabbages were left at the weighbridge, he's due in court on January 2.
