As with the new Volvo S60, the automaker's design team has increased the new V60's road presence by emphasising its design.

The V60 delivers a dynamic driving experience, with similar handling characteristics  as the sedan available in the same chassis options - Dynamic, Four-C (Continuously Controlled Chassis Concept) and Lower Sport Chassis.

'BEST IN THE SEGMENT'

Volvo's Patrik Widerstrand comments: "We're really proud of the standard Dynamic chassis. It offers a responsive, in-command driving experience and we genuinely believe that it's one of the best in the segment."

The rear seats can be folded down in three 40/20/40 segments to deliver 430 litres of stowage space. The V60 has  integrated booster cushions for children. The booster cushions pop-up from the seat base giving a comfortable and safe ride height for children from three years and upwards.

V60 HYBRID

Following the successful introduction in its high-specification "Pure Limited" guise, the V60 Plug-in Hybrid is now available with a full range of colours and options.

The model retains its class-leading emissions rating of 48g/km.

Widerstrand said: "We've made the car look more purposeful and dynamic, reflecting its personality. And your every interaction with your car is more intuitive, expressive and customisable."

The tail door on the world's first diesel plug-in hybrid still displays the D6 AWD badge. The front wheels are powered by a five-cylinder 2.4 turbodiesel engine producing 160kW/440Nm, mated to a six-speed auto.

The rear axle is powered by an electric motor producing 52kW/200Nm. The electric motor is supplied by an 11.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack installed under the floor of the load compartment. Three driving modes are on offer - Pure, Hybrid and Power.

In Pure mode, the car is powered solely by its electric motor with a range of up to 50km. Hybrid is the default setting.

In Power mode, the technology is optimised to give the car maximum power. The diesel engine and electric motor combine to deliver a total power output of 212kW/600Nm.

The car accelerates from 0-100km/h in 6.1 seconds.
