Detroit - Two former Google engineers - Dave Ferguson and Jiajun Zhu - have launched a startup to develop their own self-driving car.
The new startup, Nuro, is hoping to produce self-driving cars for last-mile delivery services.
Their unofficially named 'R1 prototype' is specifically being developed to take over the roles of delivery drivers.
Additionally, Amazon has filed a patent for an "autonomous ground vehicle," suggesting that rumuors of self-driving robot delivery drivers are true.
Also, Ford recently announced a partnership with Domino’s, to use self-driving cars for pizza deliveries. All this means your local, friendly delivery driver may be a thing of the past.
