Canada - Michelin has debuted its aptly-named Visionary mobility concept - an airless, rechargeable, 3D-printed tyre.

The tyremaker also aims to use biodegradable materials.

The concept tyre was revealed at the 'Movin'On' technology expo in Montreal.

Future tyres

The tyre is made from recycled materials and sports a honeycomb structure, which Michelin calls "a generative design"; it mimics, says the tyremaker, a "natural growth process" inspired by nature.

Owners can have the tread reformed by a 3D-printer.

Michelin's concept is to create what it calls a "connected tyre", one that provides real-time information about its condition and is integrated with the vehicle.
