Volkswagen is testing its forthcoming Tiguan SUV, which was recently unveiled as a concept car, in Cape Town.
VW is readying the Tiguan for release later in 2007
Wheels24 editor Wilmer Muller, as well as several readers, has spotted a virtually undisguised black Tiguan driving with an entourage of VWs around Cape Town.
On Saturday Wheels24 spotted the Tiguan, which is VW's new baby SUV, outside Somerset West at the Shell garage on the N2 oncoming to Cape Town. Unfortunately Wheels24 couldn't manage to snap the vehicle.
Recently a few readers alerted us as well that they saw the Tiguan driving in the vicinity of Somerset West and Stellenbosch.
The Tiguan is no big secret as VW has shown the vehicle in concept guise at the recent Detroit Motor Show.
The concept's design is quite close to that of the production model. Wheels24 can now confirm this too.
The vehicle which we spotted shows a very close resemblance to that of the Tiguan concept's overall styling.
The design of the Tiguan that is on test in Cape Town is very similar to that of the prototype. However, it appears as if the final version's bonnet design could be slightly less dramatic.
It is expect that VW will unveil the production Tiguan at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
