Reader Henry Le Roux sent us more images taken of this supercar, this time getting close enough to touch it (and snap its interior).
Update: Merc SLS AMG spotted in SA!
Le Roux had previously sent us images of the coveted supercar "scooting" up and down Mpumalanga's Long Tom Pass.
"I snapped these photos on the Long Tom Pass on Sunday (February 7, 2010)," Le Roux said.
The first photo "alerted me to the car's presence on the particular stretch of road.
Sorry the close up side view photo is a tad blurred as the chap behind the wheel accelerated when he saw me snapping away.
About six SLSs were 'scooting' up and down the pass... They sound totally awesome, to say the least."
The symphony, of course, is provided by Mercedes-Benz's signature naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 powerplant. For the SLS AMG, it produces an eye-watering 420 kW and 650 Nm of torque. Expect it to hurtle to 100 km/h from standstill in just over three seconds.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was unveiled at September 2009's Frankfurt Motor Show and goes on sale in international markets this year. It is inspired by the iconic 300SL Gullwing and shows off retro styling and utterly attention-grabbing gullwing doors.
