Here are photos if Alfa Romeo's new Furiosia (or Junior) cold weather testing. Check out the cute styling and design influences from Alfa's 8C Competizione.
It is scheduled to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show.
The two-door hatchback, taking styling cues from Alfa's 8C Competizione, is designed to be a serious competitor to the MINI and the upcoming Audi A1.
Although partly based on the Fiat Punto, we reckon the Alfa Furiosa will be the more attractive and exciting car which also explains Turin's plan to employ the higher-level engines of the Punto-range.
The new Furiosa could become an excitingly sporty hatch for the city. Oh, and depending on the politics at the Italian carmaker it could still be called the "Junior" instead.
On publication of this article, reader Jaco Hauptfleisch reported seeing the car out testing in Kimberley recently.
"Yesterday morning I saw the New Alfa Junior outside Kimberley (on the N12). In the convoy was the Alfa Junior, two Lancia nouvo Deltas launched 08/03/2008 at Geneva and a Fiat 500 Abarth (must be because it was quick on pull away). I could not catch the Fiat with my Megane.
Next was another prototype which I did not recognize. It was the size of the Fiat 500, but higher - MPV style.
I've got a cellphone photo from the back of the Alfa Junior. Easy to recognize with the special design of the exhaust."
