Nissan's fresh-faced Qashqai is poised for local introduction, and eagle-eyed reader Wayne Steed spotted the newcomer at an Irene shopping centre this past weekend.
Our intrepid spy photographer just managed to snap these images of the thinly disguised crossover SUV before the owners returned from a cycling expedition.
The anticipated Qashqai was unveiled in South Africa at last year's Auto Africa show. The local market will be one of the first outside Europe in which this big newcomer will be sold.
Four engine options are available in Europe. Two petrol engines ranging from 1.6- to 2.0-litre are offered, alongside 1.5- and 2.0-litre turbodiesel units.
Transmission options also include five and six-speed manual gearboxes, a new six-speed automatic and a CVT option with manual mode.
Both 2.0-litre powered versions can be specified with Nissan's all-mode 4X4 system.
Qashqai is built at Nissan's Sunderland plant in the UK and will supplement existing demand for the X-Trail, which will be replaced later this year.
