An all-new BMW 5 Series is under development and these images offer the clearest view of the new sedan and touring yet.
According to sources, the next-generation 5 Series's design will be "less polarising" than the current E60's and will feature more conventional-looking headlights and a cleaner frontal design.
While keeping to the new European pedestrian safety standards mandate, BMW will retain its kidney grille design but also reduce the length of the front overhang.
The new car will have its wheelbase extended by nearly 10 cm and have a wider track, while its overall length will grow by about 2 cm. Its height will be reduced slightly.
Expect firepower to be sourced from a range of engines in the existing BMW line-up ranging from the 2.5-litre straight six to the 4.8-litre V8.
A few turbocharged offerings can be expected too, along with a more powerful version of the M5's V10.
