While Audi's next generation A4 is being prepared for its world unveiling at this week's Frankfurt Motor Show, we have early images of the accompanying Avant model to whet your appetite.
Snapped testing outside Audi's Ingolstadt factory, the Avant follows the design principles used on the new A4 and features a typical sloping roofline.
Petrol and turbodiesel engines will be carried over from the sedan range. The five engines have outputs ranging from 105 kW to 195 kW.
Front wheel drive or quattro all-wheel drive will be offered, along with a choice of transmissions, ranging from a six-speed manual gearbox to tiptronic automatic and multitronic continuously variable transmissions.
The A4 Avant will likely be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next year. Its local launch will follow that of the A4 sedan, Audi SA has confirmed.
