Eagle-eyed reader Wayne Byrne recently snapped a clutch of Porsches out testing on the Oliviershoek Pass outside Bergville in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Byrne submitted these images of a few Boxsters bearing plates stating "Government approved: high speed testing vehicle" on the rump.
He also described how the driver became very agitated after being snapped and sped of, followed by two more of the roadsters.
Perhaps most interesting, although Byrne was unable to snap images of the car, was a heavily disguised 911 also speeding up the pass.
Porsche Centre SA has confirmed that a facelift is scheduled for the 911 range for the model year 09, but that the exact nature of the changes still had to be confirmed.
And although Byrne noted these Boxsters were equipped with taped-up LED tail lights, Porsche SA said it had not been notified of impending changes to the range.
However, while details remain sketchy, spy shots of the revised Boxster have been available online for a while already. The roadster will allegedly be getting new headlight clusters with LED daytime running lights to go along with its fresh LED tail lights.
The facelifted Boxster is expected to be unveiled in 2008 with the same changes likely for the Cayman coupe, too.
