Porsche's next GT3 RS spied

2009-04-17 08:17

The facelift rolled out across the Porsche 911 range and given to the Coupe, Cabriolet, Targa and Turbo models is now being extended to the GT3 RS performance model, too.

Recently snapped testing alongside the current model at the Nürburgring race circuit in Germany, these images provide some key details about the new big hitter.

With the aid of its 305-kW 3.6-litre flat six engine, the GT3 RS will retain its top speed of 311 km/h and 0-100 km/h sprint time of around four seconds.

Weight saving measures again include a polycarbonate rear window, and a carbon fibre bonnet and rear wing.

GT3 RS will keep its distinctive "GT3 RS" decals, special coloured wheels, contrasting side mirrors, roll cage and imposing rear wing.

Let's just hope you can get this one in a proper colour. The whole white with neon red or blue wheels really didn't do it for me.

Well well well. what have we here. The evolution of a classic. If only more marques had folled Porche's 911 design strategy the motor industry pobably would not be in the mess it is today. Why do you need to change anything if it's not broken.

Aaaaah! Porsche, what a great driving machine. Pity a lot of folks (volks?) here will complain about lack of passenger space. LOL

doesnt the current GT3RS push out 305Kw, i thought they increased the power output to above 320kw's. Either I am wrong or this article is dodge.

Me! 10:33 How on earth can you say you will take one, but without the wing. It is like saying I will a motorbike without two wheels!! If you remove the wing you will be all over the place at high speeds! If you don't like the wing, take a Carrera S. It has the bigger hips, but no wing...

The nice thing about Porsche is that its hard to tell the wannabees from the real rich people... to the casual observer (ie hot chicks at your local News Cafe), your 8 year old relatively affordable model doesn't look much different from the newest, excessively expensive one...

With Porsche its evolution, not revolution. Seriously, nothing wrong with that!! What an awesome piece of art.... no substitute.

At Riaan and Anon at 9h13 am. You really embarass yourself with dimwit comments like that - yes, the 911 series has a recognisable and distinct design thread but to say that all 911s look the same is idiotic. The 911 is a design icon and recognised as such by experts in their fields. Part of it's attraction is the heritage and blood line of the design. I doubt the Porsche designers lose any sleep over what you two think!

ANON 10h17 - Well said. Porsche perfected the 911 and they just keep making it more perfect. So what if they resemble each other, that's the point isn't it - RIAAN. It's the only car in the world that looks that way, if they made it different, it wouldn't be a 911. It's like saying all Astons look the same, which they do, but it wouldn't be an Aston if it looked different.

Porsche 911, GT2 or 3 it's my dream car a real car not like Ferrari and Lamborghini. I always loved the 911 classic shape and look.
