Opel has released official teaser images of its all-new Astra hatchback.
Opel shows odd Astra teasers
Showing what appears to be the final model of the next Astra in five-door hatchback configuration, the model (pictured below) is flanked by lead designer Marc van der Haegen and engineering coordinator Laszlo Kreth. However, the car is kept hidden by strategically placed sheets of paper.
Along with the five-door hatchback model, Opel is expected to again release a three-door GTC hatchback, four-door sedan, station wagon and TwinTop coupe-cabriolet derivative.
The new Astra will be powered by a variety of petrol and turbodiesel engines, including a new 1.4-litre turbocharged motor that will be offered with various outputs.
As before, hot hatch fans can look forward to an OPC version that is said to be powered by a version of the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder currently powering the range topper.
GMSA recently trimmed its Opel line-up and introduced changes to the Astra line-up. Speaking to Wheels24 at the time, the manufacturer said it would consider introducing the all-new Astra here by early 2011 if there was "sufficient demand" and the "price could be justified".
The all-new Opel Astra will be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
