Speculation as to whether the latest BMW spy shots surfacing on the internet are of the next generation Z4 or a larger Z9, continues...
When pictures of the heavily disguised hard-top first surfaced earlier this year, many presumed that it was a prototype of the new Z9. Currently under development, the car would be a successor to the BMW Z8 and a possible contender to the Mercedes-Benz SL.
However, there are also strong reasons why this roadster could be the larger replacement for the current Z4.
It's widely accepted that the next generation Z4 will be slightly larger than the model it replaces, mainly to facilitate an entry-level Z2 roadster based on the 1 Series? underpinnings.
Codenamed E89, the next Z4 is rumoured to only become available in 2009.
