Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Mercedes-Benz is revving up to launch the all-new C-Class in South Africa. The newcomer is expected to go on sale here in August. Wheels24 drove the car in March on its international launch and now we're first to bring you the prices too.
Initially three petrol models, the C200K, C280 and C350, will be available. At a later stage the entry-level C180K will join the range.
The diesel line-up includes the C220CDI and C320CDI.
The C200K and C220CDI comes with a six-speed manual gearbox, with a 5-speed automatic transmission available as a R13 000 option. All other models get Merc's 7G-TRONIC 7-speed automatic transmission as standard.
Like before, the C-Class comes standard with Classic trim, while buyers can also opt for the Avantgarde, Elegance or AMG lines.
With the AVANTGARDE trim, which has a sportier flair, the Mercedes three-pointed star is position on the grille, which consists of three extended, horizontal louvers.
Traditionalists can opt for the ELEGANCE model, which employs a three-dimensional, louvred radiator grille with a high-gloss paint finish to accentuate other brand-typical attributes such as comfort and luxury.
Some basic standard equipment on all models include six airbags, multi-function steering wheel and climate control. The C-Class also gets Agility Control, which basically means a better suspension setup and improved steering. Standard is also Merc's ADAPTIVE BRAKE system. Several options are available too.
