McLaren’s all-new supercar has been spotted out testing. Codenamed the P11, it will battle it out with the Ferrari F430 when it goes on sale in 2010.
It will apparently be a radical departure from McLaren’s last two road cars, the F1 and SLR, which was co-developed with Merdedes.
Like the SLR it will use a V8, but so far other details are sketchy. The production version will rival super cars such as the Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo and Audi R8 V10.
Therefore expect the P11’s engine to thrust out around 410kW, while the rumoured target weight will be about 1200kg to maximise performance. An F1-style quick-change transmission is likely while the car will be mid-engined and rear-wheel drive.
Our spy photos show that the proportions of the P11 could be similar to those of the McLaren F1, and although it is a very heavy disguise, expect influences from the most iconic of supercars to feature on the P11.
