Would Honda allow Nissan and Toyota to prance about in the supercar arena without a worthy competitor? Not a chance! The NSX is on its way - and there's talk of a high-revving V10…
Unlike the previous mid-engined NSX, this prototype's engine is located in a front-mid position well behind the front wheels to allow for superb weight distribution.
The engine details remain open to speculation, but the best story yet is that a high-revving naturally aspirated V10 could be shoehorned into the NSX's engine bay. And if its body is as lightweight as the previous version's, the rumoured 336 kW could make for very entertaining motoring.
Four-wheel drive (with bias toward the rear wheels) is another possibility and is expected to be controlled by a version of Honda's electronic Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system.
Although only likely to be revealed without camo in 2009, expect Honda's new supercar to take the fight to the established Porsche 911 Turbo, Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo and home-grown talent provided by Nissan's GTR and the Lexus LF-A.
