Earlier this week Wheels24 reported that VW is testing its new baby SUV in Cape Town after we spotted the car.
VW is testing the Tiguan in Cape Town. It has typical VW design cues while the interior seems to be similar to that of the concept car.
Now an eagle-eyed Wheels24 reader snapped the vehicle in Hout Bay where it was parked in the open between other vehicles.
These photos show that the production Tiguan definitely looks more subdued than the striking concept car, which was unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show at the end of 2006.
It seems as if the Tiguan takes styling cues from the Golf Plus with similar taillights and headlights.
In production guise the Tiguan will slot in below VW's succesful Touareg range.
The Tiguan will rival SUVs such as the Toyota RAV4 while the top-end models will take on the BMW X3.
The usual VW engines, such as the 2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TDI, will be under the bonnet.
VW will probably unveil the car at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
