First shots: New Merc CLK

accreditation
Mercedes-Benz is hard at work preparing its next-generation CLK - and we have the proof. Have a look at what our spies snapped.

Look beneath the heavy cladding, and it's clear the new CLK coupe and its convertible sibling will be bigger than before. It will probably be more luxurious and more elegant, too.

The cars will again share their underpinnings with the C-Class sedan. However, they are also expected to feature adjustments to their chassis' that will give them a decidedly sportier edge.

Engines will probably be lifted from the sedan range too, including the awesome 6.3-litre V8 used in the forthcoming C63 AMG, which will likely arrive in South Africa within the first quarter of 2008.

The next-generation CLK is expected to make its official debut in 2009.
