Our spies out in Europe have snapped the very first images of the all-new BMW 3 Series.
First peek: Next BMW 3 Series
Since the new model is only due for introduction in 2012, details are understandably thin, but our spies have been able to unearth some information.
The proportions of the new car are typically 3 Series with a squat stance, short overhangs and wheel at each corner. However, the new car will be slimmer than the current one, it is said. It will also receive a wider kidney grille along with new light clusters. Tail light clusters, though new, will also take on the familiar L-shape of the 3 Series.
As is currently the case, the Coupe and Cabriolet models will look a little different to the Sedan and Touring. The drop-top will retain its folding metal roof, though.
It is expected to ride on a new modular platform shared with several models within the BMW stable to allowing for greater cost savings.
The new Three will also be gifted with the latest Efficient Dynamics technologies, including a solar roof panel for powering the interior controls and an active hybrid model using a three-cylinder engine hooked up to an electric motor.
