Alfa Romeo's 149 is being prepared, but don't be fooled by the seemingly misplaced Fiat Bravo shell...
This mule of the successor to the 147, wrapped in a Fiat Bravo body, was recently snapped while cold-weather testing. It does, however, bear the front of the new 149.
The production version, when it breaks cover early next year, will largely be based on cousin Bravo's platform.
It will reportedly also feature a multi-link rear suspension and Active Roll Control.
Like the Bravo, 149 will be available as a five-door hatchback only with power supplied by a range of petrol engines varying from Fiat's 90-kW 1.4 T-Jet to Alfa's 198-kW 3.2-litre V6 for the GTA version.
149 will be equipped with a standard six-speed manual gearbox with an optional automatic transmission.
