Ford expects to remain the best-selling automaker for a fourth consecutive year in the US in 2013, widening the gap over rival Toyota, reports the Detroit News.
It claims its US sales could reach 2.4-million in 2013, up from 2.24-million in 2012.
Ford will likely widen the gap over Toyota by 400 000 sales, though the Japanese automaker will likely sell more vehicles to average customers where as Ford sells a higher percentage of its vehicles to fleet customers.
‘16 LAUNCHES IN 2014’
The Fiesta is headed for sales record in 2013 and the Fusion midsize sedan will fall just short of 300 000 sales. The F-Series will continue to the best-selling vehicle in the US for the 32nd consecutive year.
Ford USA marketing, sales and service VP John Felice said: “The Ford brand has had more retail share growth than any other brand in the country, with our most significant gains coming from import-dominated coastal markets.
“With 16 launches in 2014, we’re looking to keep our sales momentum going.”
In third place is Chevrolet followed by Honda and Nissan in fourth and fifth respectively.
