BRENTWOOD, England - Ford's Focus ST was the best-selling hot hatch in its segment in the last three months of 2012, according to figures from automotive data intelligence provider Polk.
It claimed 44% of all sales during this period in Europe, ahead of VW's Golf GTI with 33% and Renault's Megane Sport with 12%.
Total Focus ST sales in the period were just more than 1980, making it the top-selling hot hatch in the UK... and Denmark, Norway, Finland, Hungary, Switzerland, Sweden and The Netherlands.
'PERFORMANCE, USABILITY'
Roelant de Waard from Ford Europe said: “The unrivalled balance of performance and usability has been recognised by some fantastic reviews for the car. You really have to drive it yourself to experience the responsiveness of the engine and the fantastic chassis.”
The automaker has sold 3819 new Focus ST’s in Europe since launch - 74% hatchbacks and 26% sedans/wagons. The most popular colour? White (41%), followed by black (28%) and tangerine (17%) - see, not everybody likes it!
The automaker is extending the Ford ST range with the introduction of the 134kW Fiesta ST in March 2013 (a little later in South Africa), the fastest production Fiesta yet with 0-100km/h in 6.9sec and 220km/h top speed.
