Nissan SA recalls 7000 cuties

Nissan is recalling 841 000 compact cars worldwide due to a steering wheel glitch - 7000 of them in South Africa.

New engines include a 1.4-litre petrol (available from April 2006), and a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel, with direct injection common rail and intercooled turbo. The diesel has a power output of 55 kW at 4 000 r/min and a torque figure of 190 Nm at 1 750 r/min.

All engines are now Euro4 and have a dash-mounted five-speed gearbox

A driver?s airbag is standard on the Doblò Cargo and other passive safety features include three-point seat-belts with pretensioners and load limiters, adjustable head-restraints and an FPS Fire Prevention System.

There is also a new chassis designed to absorb impact with maximum efficacy.

On the active safety front, it is equipped with a hydraulic, servo-assisted break system which consists of two independent crossover circuits that offer prompt, smooth braking and short stopping distances.

The 1.3 MultiJet retails for R129 900. It comes with a 24-month manufacturer warranty, unlimited mileage and an additional 12-month dealer extended warranty or up to 100 000km in total, three years on paintwork and five years on rust anti-perforation. click here for dealers.
