Focus RS WRC concept car could have inspired red-hot hatch

According to Auto Express Ford has decided to shelve plans to build the RS, as its high development would made the project unrealistic.

This decision means that the upcoming Focus ST will be the range-topping model.

Auto Express reports that the RS, which was expected to go on sale in 2007, would have had a 3.2-litre straight six engine with a power output of about 260 kW.

The car would have been based on the Focus RS WRC concept car of 2004.

If the RS made production it could have had a 0-100 km/h sprint of about four seconds reaching a limited top speed of 280 km/h.
