Mercedes recently updated its SLK range, subsequently German based tuner, Brabus, just had to take it one step further.

Visually a striking new front spoiler reduces lift on the front axle at high speeds whilst differentiating the Brabus SLK from its standard stalemates.

Headlamp inserts with daytime running lights further improve driving safety whilst rocker panels smooth the airstream between front and rear wheels.

Stylishly understated, for a Brabus

Integrated entrance lights illuminate the ground on either side of the SLK and make getting in and out of the car safer in the dark and less embarrassing for clumsy passengers prone to stepping off pavements.

The rear of the SLK is upgraded with a Brabus apron featuring cut-outs for the chrome tipped quad sport exhaust and the unusually understated - for a Brabus - spoiler lip on the trunk lid.

In characteristic Brabus style, the optional wheel package is substantia. One- or multi-piece designs with diameters of 17-, 18- and 19-inches are optional, all shod with either Yokohama or Pirelli rubber in sizes 225/35mm on the front axle and 255/30mm at the rear.

Increased capacity

Fortunately it's hardly an 'all-show-and-no-go' state of affairs.

The aerodynamic styling package with its airstream stabilizing qualities, the larger wheels with bespoke, performance rubber, the six-piston aluminium fixed callipers and 355mm vented front brake discs; these are all necessary engineering solutions.

Under the bonnet nestles a 6.1-litre V8 engine, up 600cc from the standard 5.5-litre powerplant. Power has increased in kind too. Offering 327kW and 635Nm in one of the lightest Mercedes-Benz chassis renders epic performance.

Driving through a Brabus limited-slip differential, the modified seven-speed automatic gearbox slingshots the SLK from 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds on its way to a 305km/h top speed.

Individualised interior

Brabus is renowned for its in-house leather trim department, able to shape, cut and fit a customer's car to a mind-bogglingly diffuse array of options.

Highly polished stainless-steel scuff plates, a sport steering wheel 330km/h speedometer round off the interior package. The interior is upholstered with soft yet durable Mastik leather and Alcantara.

Upon customer request they'll meticulously sew additional cow to cover floor, rear firewall and driveshaft tunnel with waffle-patterned leather.
