With the new X6 to be launched in Cape Town tomorrow, Schnitzer have wasted no time in developing an aftermarket kit for it.Wild stylingThe controversial sports active Coupe from BMW, with its oddly proportioned styling and stunningly advanced dynamics, has provided the perfect foil for Schnitzer technicians.BMW has dared to build a SUV Coupe – who would have signed off such a thing? No matter though, Schnitzer have developed an extreme styling kit to blend with the already outrageous X6 styling. AC Schnitzer Designer Michele Viandante restyled the front by adding a new skirt featuring diagonal air intakes and repositioned fog lights are exposed. Under-body protection has been removed in favour of a more dynamic contour for the spoiler edge, which should hardly bother anybody – the X6 was hardly going to venture off-road.The rear carries a massive skirt with framed edges, and all components are now colour-coded. A rear diffuser has been added too, enhancing high-speed stability whilst neatening up the rear three-quarter view too – probably the least flattering angle of view on the X6. Requisite dual chromed exhausts reside finish off the styling package.Technical upgradesManfred Wollgarten, technical director of AC Schnitzer, has developed a unique suspension kit for the X6, certified on the North Loop of the Nürburgring, the Schnitzer kit works with both active and non-active ride X6 models.One could hardly drive a X6 with AC Schnitzer branding and still harness stock power output. Subsequently engine technicians at Schnitzer have prepared ECU based tuning chips for both the 173kW and 210kW 3-litre turbodiesel engines in the X6 range. Mum concerning figures, AC Schnitzer assures technical details will be impressive when released.In the meanwhile console yourself with technical details concerning outlandish diameters of the AC Schnitzer exclusive mags available with their X6 package. Huge 22-inch Schnitzer Type VII wheels shod with 295/30R tyres should increase the segment defining handling capabilities of the X6 even further.Appointed upgrades on the inside include a F1 teams worth of carbon-fibre detailing, aluminium trim finishing to gather finger print marks, and a three-spoke, airbag embedded sports steering wheel.
