Arden's killer XK

2007-08-17 10:21
Arden, the German based Jaguar tuning specialist, has applied itself to the XK range to produce the achingly beautiful AJ 20 Coupe.

Adorned with a new front spoiler, side-sills and air vents, the bespoke body kit complements the XK's original lines perfectly.

Not content with adding to the presence of the XK ranges exterior appeal, Arden has a comprehensive dynamic package which incorporates engine, suspension and brake upgrades.

Both the naturally aspirated and supercharged 4.2-litre V8 versions can be had with a new crankshaft which increases stroke and subsequently capacity to 4.5 litres.

A revised exhaust system and manifold tied in with a reprogrammed ECU hikes power to 288 kW and 475 Nm, whilst the supercharged version belts out 353 kW and 640 Nm.

Performance is resolutely epic; especially considering the reprogrammed ECU unit now circumvents the 250km/h top-speed governor.

The naturally aspirated 4.5-litre version does the 0-100km/h benchmark in 5.3 seconds, topping out at 285km/h, whilst the supercharged version taps the same benchmarks in 4.8 seconds and at 295 km/h.

All the performance is applied to the road surface by a 30mm suspension drop using Blitstein dampers. Handling is further enhanced by the 21-inch custom mags which are shod with 255/35 ZR rubber at the front and 295/55 ZR's at the rear. Arden recommends Pirelli or Yokohama tyres.

Emergency braking is dynamically aided by 390 mm ventilated discs up front, gripped by six-piston calipers, whilst the same items at employed at the rear, with 340 mm circumference, featuring four-piston calipers.

Obviously the interior cannot be left untouched and a myriad of customisation options are available. The standard must-have items are surely the aluminium tread plate and custom 300-km/h speedo, just to make sure you can check up on all your newly acquired performance parameters.
